Medium in tone and well balanced, this 0.28ct round avoids both the near-black center of the deepest London blues and the washed look of the palest, landing on a clear readable teal. Fine surface scratches show across the crown under angled light and a small dark point sits toward the upper left, both ordinary for commercial melee and both in line with VS. The star through the table is clearly defined and the outline is a clean circle.
Mid-toned stones are the most useful when a design needs several to match, since they sit comfortably next to both lighter and darker neighbours. Brazilian topaz reaches London blue by irradiation and a subsequent heating that fixes the color. At 4mm it fits standard accent settings. December recognizes blue topaz among its birthstones.
Natural London blue topaz, 0.28ct round, sold loose.

About topaz
Topaz is 8 on the Mohs scale, so it resists scratches well, but it has perfect cleavage along one plane, and a sharp knock can split it even when the surface shows no scratches. It suits pendants and earrings, and rings too if worn with care.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. Harder stones such as sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This topaz is irradiated, the usual treatment for this color. Topaz should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
