At 1.44ct this is the boldest of the London blue ovals, a deep saturated teal that fills the whole 6.7x5.7mm outline without thinning at the edges. Large white flashes cut across the crown where the bigger facets catch the light, and the dark blue between them makes the contrast strong. A few light surface marks show on one crown facet under angled light, the kind of minor polishing evidence normal for the material and price, and they leave the face-up color untouched. The oval is chunky rather than elongated, which is where the extra weight has gone.
Irradiated and then heated Brazilian rough is what gives London blue its depth, and this stone sits at the saturated end of that range. Nearly a carat and a half in a compact oval gives real presence in a ring without needing a large finger size. White gold or platinum keeps the blue cold and deep, while yellow gold warms it noticeably. Blue topaz is a December birthstone, and this is the sort of size that works as a main gift rather than an accent.

About topaz
Topaz is 8 on the Mohs scale, so it resists scratches well, but it has perfect cleavage along one plane, and a sharp knock can split it even when the surface shows no scratches. It suits pendants and earrings, and rings too if worn with care.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. Harder stones such as sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
