A polished Baltic amber piece at 22.3x10x5.3mm containing a beautifully preserved spider. The macro photo shows the arthropod in remarkable detail - legs extended, captured in the resin millions of years ago and now held within warm golden-honey translucent amber. Natural internal flow lines and stress fractures spread through the amber around the inclusion, the kind of organic detailing that gives genuine Baltic insect specimens their unmistakable character.
Baltic amber insect inclusions are among the most collectible forms of fossil amber. This specimen originates from Poland and is estimated to be 44-50 million years old. The amber is completely untreated. Spider inclusions in this condition are a genuinely noteworthy find - well-preserved arthropods with extended legs visible are highly prized by natural history collectors and paleontology enthusiasts.

About amber
Amber is fossilized tree resin, not a mineral, so it is very light and feels warm to the touch. At 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale it scratches very easily.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: amber is soft and melts or cracks with heat. Keep alcohol, perfume, hairspray and solvents away from it: they dissolve its surface.
Wear and storage
Display it on a stand or a soft cloth so it cannot roll or knock against harder stones, and store it wrapped in a soft cloth. It is soft enough to be scratched by a fingernail, so dust it gently.
