A standard oval with a relatively open, pale yellow-green body and a sparse scattering of longer black needle inclusions, making this one of the cleaner-looking pieces in this African prehnite collection. A small warm brownish patch is visible toward one side, a natural color variation in the stone. The dome is smoothly polished and the overall impression is calm and clean.
The sparse inclusion content of this piece allows the prehnite's pale green body to read more openly than in the more heavily included examples. Prehnite is always untreated. At 31.2x20.6mm this standard oval suits expressive pendants and larger earring settings.

About prehnite
Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate, usually a soft, translucent green. At 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale it is fairly durable, but softer than quartz.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: sudden heat can crack it.
Wear and storage
Below 7 on the Mohs scale, it can be scratched even by household dust, which contains quartz. It suits pendants, earrings and brooches better than rings worn every day. Store it on its own in a soft pouch, away from harder stones.

This prehnite is untreated. Prehnite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath.
