High contrast is what this 6mm colorless round does best: hard white flashes set against near-black recesses, with the pavilion pattern clearly readable straight through the table. A small dark point sits low in the stone, visible on close inspection and consistent with the VVS grade. The polish is bright and the circular outline is well formed all the way round. Just under a carat at 6mm means the stone is cut to a normal depth rather than spread thin for size.
Brazil supplies almost all the colorless topaz in the trade, untreated as it comes. Depth matters more than it looks in a white stone, because a shallow cut leaks light through the back and goes glassy. This one holds its brilliance. A 6mm round sits comfortably as a solitaire or as the center of a small halo. November has topaz for its birthstone.

About topaz
Topaz is 8 on the Mohs scale, so it resists scratches well, but it has perfect cleavage along one plane, and a sharp knock can split it even when the surface shows no scratches. It suits pendants and earrings, and rings too if worn with care.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. Harder stones such as sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This topaz is untreated. Topaz should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
