Bolder faceting than most 6mm rounds gives this 1.08ct colorless topaz wide flat planes that catch the light in big sheets rather than fine points. Fine fibers and dust are visible on the surface in the photograph, and a small dark speck sits near the middle of the crown; the interior itself is clean at VVS. The material is completely transparent with no tint. The circular outline is true and the girdle even.
Wide-planed faceting suits a stone that will be viewed from a distance, in a pendant rather than close up on a hand. This is untreated Brazilian topaz, colorless as it formed. Topaz takes a good polish and holds it, so a 6mm round stays bright with ordinary care. November claims topaz as its birthstone.

About topaz
Topaz is 8 on the Mohs scale, so it resists scratches well, but it has perfect cleavage along one plane, and a sharp knock can split it even when the surface shows no scratches. It suits pendants and earrings, and rings too if worn with care.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. Harder stones such as sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This topaz is untreated. Topaz should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
