This 1.97ct cushion reads softer than its neighbours, with a gentle haze across the table that spreads light rather than snapping it back, and fine surface scuffing visible over the center under angled light. The outline is squarer, close to a true cushion square, and the crown facets are large and well defined at the edges. The body is entirely colorless. VVS clarity means the interior is clean, and the softness here belongs to the surface rather than to anything inside the stone.
Surface polish on commercial cushions varies from stone to stone, and a light haze is the kind of thing a jeweller can improve with a repolish if it matters to the buyer. This one is untreated topaz from Brazil. The squared outline suits geometric and Deco style settings, and at 7mm it is a straightforward center-stone size. November claims topaz as its birthstone.

About topaz
Topaz is 8 on the Mohs scale, so it resists scratches well, but it has perfect cleavage along one plane, and a sharp knock can split it even when the surface shows no scratches. It suits pendants and earrings, and rings too if worn with care.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. Harder stones such as sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This topaz is untreated. Topaz should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
