A lot of four round ruby cabochons from Thailand with a wider color spread than most small parcels of this kind. One stone stands out as a bright, clear scarlet with an unusually open body for cabochon material, while another at the far right is heavily speckled, its dome crowded with dark mineral points. Between them sit a soft rose-pink with fine pink veining and a vivid magenta-purple. All four are smooth high domes without facets.
The variation across these four is a fair picture of how Thai ruby runs within a single parcel, from clean bright red through to densely included material. Heat is a standard, accepted treatment for ruby. Corundum's hardness of 9 makes them practical for rings and everyday pieces, and at 2.5 to 2.6mm they work as a graded row, a cluster, or accent stones where the differences become part of the design. Ruby is the July birthstone.
Natural Thai ruby cabochons, July birthstone, sold as a lot of 4 stones.

About ruby
Ruby is the red variety of the mineral corundum. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: cabochons usually contain fine inclusions or fissures that vibration and heat can open.
Wear and storage
Ruby is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Ruby handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
