Three of the four stones in this set share a bright, cool blue-violet family, but the third stone stands apart with a noticeably more oceanic, sky-blue cast and a small cluster of pinpoint inclusions visible near its center. The fourth returns to the group's violet tone, rounding out an interesting mix within one small parcel.
These tanzanites were mined at the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, the world's only known source of the gem, and carry the standard heat treatment used throughout the trade. Good for earring pairs, small accent settings, or anyone who enjoys the color variety a single tanzanite parcel can offer.

About tanzanite
Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite. At 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, with perfect cleavage and fair toughness, it is softer and more fragile than sapphire, so it needs gentle handling.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, so wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.
For your jeweler
These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Tanzanite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
