5 Pieces Natural Larimar 8.21ct 7mm Round Cabochon

Five round larimar cabochons covering a wide stretch of the material's range. The brightest is a clear blue crossed by a white streak running straight down the center of the dome. Another holds a mid sky-blue with a pale cream zone of natural host rock along one edge, left in place by the cutter. There is an even, soft aqua stone with a single dark speck at the rim, a green one shading from olive to sea-green with a paler band across its middle, and a fifth so pale it is nearly white, with a faint blue-green wash gathering in the center. Every stone is cut as a rounded high dome.

Larimar is found only in the Dominican Republic, where it was first noticed as blue pebbles in a riverbed near Barahona before the source outcrop in the hills above was traced. A set that runs from clear blue through green to near-white gives plenty of room to place each stone where its color works best. Untreated throughout. Larimar sits at 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, which suits earrings, pendants and bezel settings. The 7mm round is the most practical size for stud work.
