5 Pieces Natural Larimar 8.22ct 7mm Round Cabochon

The greenest of the round sets, with five cabochons in saturated blue-green tones. One is a medium turquoise-green with a finely dappled texture running through the color, another an even sea-green-blue with a pale wash across the top. The deepest of the five is a full sage-teal, close to uniform, with a few fine flecks in the body. Balancing them is the brightest stone of the set, a clear sky-blue boldly marbled with white, and the fifth grades from blue-green at the center out to soft grey-green at the rim. All are domed high and finished with a smooth polish.

Green-leaning larimar comes from the same Dominican deposit as the blue and reflects small differences in copper content and in the surrounding rock. The trade tends to price larimar on how deep and even the blue is, though turquoise and green stones like these have a following of their own. Nothing here has been treated. With a hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, larimar belongs in earrings, pendants and bezel-set pieces. Five 7mm rounds in related tones give a useful base for a cluster or a row setting.
