A lot of five natural Thai ruby round cabochons, totaling 0.39ct, individual stones ranging 2.1 to 2.3mm in diameter. Even, smooth-domed little cabochons in the deep red characteristic of heated Thai ruby - semi-transparent color distributed evenly through each polished dome.
Thailand's ruby material, primarily from the Chanthaburi-Trat region, tends toward deeply saturated reds with a slightly darker tone than the brighter pinks and reds of some other sources. At this lot format and size range, these stones suit settings calling for small, even-colored red cabochons - craft, pavé, and cluster designs. Natural ruby, loose gemstones, July birthstone.
Natural Thai ruby cabochons, heat treated - sold as a lot of 5 stones.

About ruby
Ruby is the red variety of the mineral corundum. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: cabochons usually contain fine inclusions or fissures that vibration and heat can open.
Wear and storage
Ruby is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Ruby handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
