A natural goshenite (white beryl) from Brazil, 0.88ct, in a marquise cut measuring 9.7x4.8mm. At 0.88ct this is the heaviest of the single marquise goshenites in this collection, and the faceting shows it, with a strong, active light return across the elongated face when photographed against a dark background. The stone is fully colorless and transparent, with the marquise form well-proportioned from tip to tip. VS clarity with minor inclusions only.

About goshenite
Goshenite is the colorless variety of beryl. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale with only poor cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted goshenite, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Goshenite is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This goshenite is untreated. Goshenite takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
