An oval-cut natural ruby from Madagascar, 0.34 carats, measuring 5.3x3.9mm. Untreated, the stone shows its natural color with no heat enhancement applied - the red is the stone's own, with the subtler, more muted character typical of unheated Malagasy ruby. Clarity is I3, inclusions are visible within the stone, which is consistent with untreated ruby at this price range where the natural state is preserved as-is. The 5.3x3.9mm outline is generous for the weight.
Most ruby from Madagascar is heat treated in the commercial market, so specifically unheated stones are sought by buyers who want natural color at an accessible price point. At 0.34ct with a generous 5.3x3.9mm face, this is a workable size for a ring or pendant. Natural ruby, July birthstone.
Natural Madagascar ruby, untreated, July birthstone - sold loose.

About ruby
Ruby is the red variety of the mineral corundum. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted ruby, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Ruby is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This ruby is untreated. Ruby handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
