A natural oval-cut ruby from Madagascar, weighing 0.52 carats and measuring 4.7x3.8mm. The well-proportioned oval at 4.7x3.8mm creates a balanced, classic outline. SI clarity keeps the stone transparent, and the warm red of heat-treated Malagasy ruby carries cleanly through the faceted body and shows face-up with good color intensity for the size.
Madagascar heated ruby in oval faceted form is one of the most accessible natural ruby options in the commercial market, available in a range of sizes and weights. At 0.52ct and 4.7x3.8mm, this is a practical size for a small feature stone in a ring, pendant, or earring setting, or as a side stone in a multi-stone piece.

About ruby
Ruby is the red variety of the mineral corundum. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted ruby, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Ruby is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This ruby is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Ruby handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
