A mixed lot of ten small jadeite jade cabochons showing a range of greens. The top row features one larger pale grey-green translucent oval alongside four pieces in deep, saturated imperial green; the bottom row offers five pieces in a lighter, more translucent apple-green with good play of light through the material. The lot demonstrates the natural color variation found within a single Burmese jadeite parcel, from vivid deep green to softer, translucent tones.
Jadeite jade from Myanmar is the most prized of the jade varieties, harder and denser than nephrite. These small cabochons are untreated, with no polymer impregnation or color enhancement.

About jade
Jade is the name for two different rocks, jadeite and nephrite. Both are made of tightly interlocked fibrous crystals, which makes jade one of the toughest of all gem materials, even though its hardness is only 6 to 7.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and heat can open fine fractures in the stone.
Wear and storage
Jade is very tough and rarely chips or breaks, but at 6 to 7 it can be scratched by quartz, which is found in household dust. Wipe it after wear and store it on its own in a soft pouch.

These stones are untreated. Jade should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath.
