A bright lemon-yellow oval, cool and faintly green-leaning rather than golden, and notably clear for a scapolite at this size. The color holds evenly across the face, and the broad table lets you see straight down into the stone. A few fine needle-like inclusions sit near the top of the table, and the facet junctions meet crisply around the girdle. At 9.3x8mm it spreads generously for 2.28ct.
Tanzania supplies most of the faceted scapolite on the market, in a range running from near-colorless through this cool lemon into deeper honey tones, and the yellow end is the one most often cut. This stone is untreated, and like the rough crystals from the same source it is UV-reactive. At 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale it suits earrings, pendants, and protected settings.

About scapolite
Scapolite is 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale with distinct cleavage, so it suits pendants, earrings and collections better than rings.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, and a knock can chip it. Wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.

This scapolite is untreated. Scapolite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. A bezel or another protective setting suits it best.
