Four round cabochons in deep chocolate to near-black brown, with high, smoothly polished domes. Held toward the light the stones stay transparent rather than opaque, and a warm amber-brown edge appears around the base of two of them where the material thins. The four are closely matched in size, dome height, and depth of tone, which matters when they are meant to be used together.
Dark cabochons like these read as almost black once set, while keeping the depth that only a transparent stone gives. All four are Brazilian and untreated. At 9.0 to 9.1mm each they make two straightforward earring pairs, or a set for a bracelet or cufflinks, and quartz's hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale keeps them practical in everyday pieces.

About smoky quartz
Smoky quartz is the brown to gray variety of quartz. At 7 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a durable stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Smoky quartz is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

These stones are untreated. Smoky quartz should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath.
