A pale champagne diaspore pear cut with a clean, glassy transparency and crisp faceting that carries good brilliance for its 7x3.6mm size. The color is a soft, warm greyish-champagne rather than a strong hue, and at VS clarity the stone is largely clean to the eye with only faint internal features visible under close inspection.
Diaspore is an aluminum oxide-hydroxide mineral found in gem quality almost exclusively in the Ilbir Mountains of Turkey, where it is also marketed under the trade name Zultanite. The species is well known among collectors for a genuine color-change effect, shifting from champagne or greenish tones in daylight to pink or raspberry hues under incandescent light, caused by strong pleochroism combined with the way the material absorbs different wavelengths of light. This piece is untreated, as diaspore is not commercially treated. Diaspore's hardness makes it wearable in most jewelry settings, and its rarity as a source-limited gem gives it particular appeal for collectors seeking something beyond the usual color-change stones like alexandrite.

About diaspore
Diaspore is 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, but its perfect cleavage makes it fragile under knocks.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, so wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.
For your jeweler
This diaspore is untreated. Diaspore should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
