A pale champagne diaspore cushion cut at 5x5mm, with clean, symmetrical faceting and good light return. A few fine internal growth streaks are visible near the crown under close inspection, consistent with the stone's VS clarity grade, but the face-up appearance is bright and largely clean.
Diaspore is found in gem quality almost exclusively in the Ilbir Mountains of Turkey, where it is also sold under the trade name Zultanite. It is prized for a genuine color-change effect, shifting between champagne, green, and pink or raspberry tones under different light sources, the result of strong pleochroism in its crystal structure. This stone is untreated, as is standard for the species. With good hardness for jewelry wear and a limited geographic source, diaspore holds particular appeal for collectors of color-change and rare gemstones.

About diaspore
Diaspore is 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, but its perfect cleavage makes it fragile under knocks.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, so wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.

This diaspore is untreated. Diaspore should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
