A vivid teal-green dioptase cluster with a striking intensity of color - the crystals are a deep, saturated copper-green, almost jewel-like in their richness. The intergrown crystal mass sits on a warm reddish-brown host rock matrix that contrasts beautifully with the green. About dioptase
Dioptase is a copper silicate with an intense emerald-green color. Its small, glassy crystals are 5 on the Mohs scale and split easily along their cleavage.
Cleaning
Do not wash it. Dust it gently with a very soft, dry brush or an air blower, and keep it dry. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: dioptase crystals are brittle and split easily.
Wear and storage
Store it padded and apart from other specimens, so its edges and faces do not chip or scratch. Lift it by its base or matrix, not by the crystals. It is softer than a steel knife, so keep metal tools and harder stones away from it.
