A vivid teal-green dioptase cluster with a striking intensity of colour - the crystals are a deep, saturated copper-green, almost jewel-like in their richness. The intergrown crystal mass sits on a warm reddish-brown host rock matrix that contrasts beautifully with the green. Individual crystals show a vitreous luster with some depth and transparency in the upper portions. A visually compelling mineral specimen.
Dioptase is a rare copper cyclosilicate found in arid oxidised copper deposits, and the Democratic Republic of Congo is a classic locality for fine specimens. Sought after by mineral collectors worldwide for its vivid emerald-like green colour, it also makes a striking display piece or a unique raw addition to a crystal collection.
