The crystals show a warm honey-yellow to amber body colour in daylight, semi-transparent, with the striated prismatic crystal form. Under UV light, each crystal produces a vivid fluorescent display in purple, magenta, or red tones as documented in the product photos. Quality 2 pieces may show more fractures or less defined crystal faces than quality 1.

Tanzanian fluorescent scapolite is remarkable for its dramatic UV fluorescence.
