Grandidierite 5.65ct 12.8x9mm Cushion cut

A natural grandidierite in a 5.65ct cushion cut, 12.8x9mm, from Madagascar. The stone shows a medium teal-green body colour, semi-transparent, with scattered dark crystal inclusions and patches of yellowish matrix visible within the body. The faceted cushion outline gives a good spread to the teal-green colour as seen in the product photos.

Grandidierite from Madagascar is one of the rarest faceted gem minerals. This 5.65ct cushion is a substantial piece in a usable size for jewellery. The species shows trichroism - the colour shifts between blue-green, yellow-green, and near-colourless depending on the viewing direction. Untreated and natural. The inclusions and matrix are inherent to the species at this quality level.
