Two elongated cushions in a golden tan that reads closer to caramel and pale cognac than to grey smoke. The material is highly transparent and the color sits evenly through both stones, deepening a little toward the base. One is a shade paler than the other, though they sit comfortably together as a pair. Clarity is open, with only minor natural inclusions.
This lighter golden end of smoky quartz sits close in appearance to some citrine, and it flatters yellow gold particularly well. The stones are Brazilian and untreated. At 11x9.1mm each, the elongated cushion is a versatile earring shape that also works as a matched pair of side stones, and with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale the pair is suited to regular wear.

About smoky quartz
Smoky quartz is the brown to gray variety of quartz. At 7 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a durable stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted smoky quartz, but skip steam: sudden heat can crack quartz or change its color.
Wear and storage
Smoky quartz is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

These stones are untreated. Smoky quartz takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
