A soft, even orange with a gentle apricot warmth, lighter and calmer than the vivid Fanta stones. The material is translucent with a fine milky cloudiness spread evenly through it, so light diffuses into a steady glow rather than breaking into facet flashes. A small dark inclusion sits right at the left edge of the girdle, and finer texture runs through the body, consistent with the SI grade. The oval is cut low with a broad face, making the most of 2.46ct across 8.2x7mm.
Namibia produces spessartine in this softer, cloudier register alongside its transparent material. The stone is untreated. At this size it suits a pendant or a bezel-set ring, and the dark edge inclusion sits where a setting can cover it. As a garnet it also serves as a January birthstone.

About garnet
Garnet is a family of closely related minerals, including rhodolite, spessartine, grossular and tsavorite. At 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted garnet, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Garnet is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This garnet is untreated. Garnet takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
