Warm golden orange with a bright amber pool low in the stone where the light gathers. The round is cut with many small facets across a slightly domed crown, and the material's natural cloudiness diffuses the light so the whole face glows rather than sparkling in points. Fine internal texture and a scattering of pinpoints run through the body, consistent with the SI grade. The outline measures 6.8x6.1mm, so it reads as a soft round rather than a perfect circle.
Namibian spessartine in this golden orange register is warm and easy to wear. The stone is untreated. A round of this size works as a solitaire pendant or a single stud, and the diffuse glow suits a simple setting that does not compete with it. As a garnet it also serves as a January birthstone.

About garnet
Garnet is a family of closely related minerals, including rhodolite, spessartine, grossular and tsavorite. At 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted garnet, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Garnet is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
