Vivid orange with a warm golden-brown pool at the center where the table facets meet, so the stone reads brighter around the edge than through the middle. The round is cut shallow with large facets, giving broad flashes of color as it moves. Fine internal wisps and a few pinpoints thread through the middle, easiest to see against the lighter core and consistent with the SI grade. The polish is bright across the crown.
Namibia is the classic source for spessartine in this clean orange. The stone is untreated. A 6.5mm round is a versatile size, equally at home as a solitaire stud, a pendant drop, or one of a matched pair. As a garnet it also serves as a January birthstone.

About garnet
Garnet is a family of closely related minerals, including rhodolite, spessartine, grossular and tsavorite. At 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted garnet, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Garnet is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This garnet is untreated. Garnet takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
