A soft apricot orange, lighter and gentler in tone than most of the parcel, with a warm golden core where the table sits. The material is naturally cloudy: pale veils spread through much of the stone and give it a milky, glowing quality rather than a crisp transparent one. A few darker pinpoints and short wisps mark the lower half. The oval is cut with a wide table and shallow crown, which suits the softer color by keeping the whole face bright.
Namibia produces spessartine across the full range of orange, from vivid through to the softer apricot seen here. The stone is untreated. At 7.9x6.8mm it makes an easy pendant or earring stone, where the diffused glow reads warmly against skin. As a garnet it also serves as a January birthstone.

About garnet
Garnet is a family of closely related minerals, including rhodolite, spessartine, grossular and tsavorite. At 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted garnet, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Garnet is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This garnet is untreated. Garnet takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
